Charges Recommended In GUNS N' ROSES Riot

Police are recommending charges against nine people, including six youths, in a riot at a GUNS N' ROSES concert last year that ended in $264,000 worth of damage to the downtown GM Place stadium.

Reports recommending charges of mischief and participating in unlawful assembly have been sent to prosecutors, Sgt. Rob Bosley said Tuesday.

Most of the youths are from Chilliwack, about 60 miles (100 kilometers) east of Vancouver, and all three adults were from suburban North Vancouver, Bosley said.

Another six reports recommending charges may be made over the next few weeks, he said.

The riot was sparked after the band's lead singer, Axl Rose, failed to show for the concert.

In January, police posted the images of 47 people on a web site from photographs and video seized by police and later received about 100 e-mails with information identifying people involved in the riot, Bosley said.

Authorities are also investigating allegations of police brutality during the riot.
