DEVASTATION was formed in January of 1986 by drummer Pat Buckley and guitarist Erv Brautigam. But its roots ran deeper, as Pat and Erv started playing together in 1984, in the band SOLEMN. In February 1986, at a local concert (TROUBLE),Erv was introduced to vocalist Troy Dixler by Shaun Glass (ex-member of TERMINAL DEATH, SINDROME, BROKEN HOPE and SOIL). He was given an audition and accepted to the band. This lineup continued on through the recording of the band's first demo, "A Creation of Ripping Death" (May 1986),and stayed stable until October 12, 1986 which was the last show with Troy. Not long after, DEVASTATION found a new frontman in longtime friend and band photographer Duane Rasmussen.
