CHIMAIRA Plays 'Secret' Show In Cleveland

October 19, 2008

Cleveland's CHIMAIRA played a "secret" show under the name PURE HATRED last night (Saturday, October 18) at the Roc Bar in the band's hometown. (See photos below.)

Commented vocalist Mark Hunter: "Well, we did it. For the first time in our history, last night we played a secret show for a few fans and our friends and family.

"The idea for the show came from Rob [Arnold, guitar] and I talking about when we were younger and were excited to just play for our friends, and how it was so fun calling up and trying to get your own show. I said, 'What if we do that now?' We called, made up a band name and the next day we had a show. It was awesome.

"Last night was a great way to get back to how it felt the first time we played a show. Just jamming and not worrying about anything that comes with being in a known band.

"This was the most fun we've had in a long long time.

"Wish you could have been there, but it really wouldn't have been much of a secret now would it?"

CHIMAIRA is preparing to record its new CD with producer Ben Schigel, who has previously worked with the band on the "This Present Darkness" (producer, engineer, mixer); "The Impossibility Of Reason" (producer, engineer); self-titled (producer, engineer); and "Resurrection" (drum tracking) albums. Mixing duties will be handled by Chris "Zeuss" Harris.

The as-yet-untitled effort will be released in North America on April 28, 2009 via Ferret Music. CHIMAIRA is looking for label to release the new albim in territories outside North America (the band is no longer signed to Nuclear Blast, which released "Resurrection" in Europe).
