CHIMAIRA's MATT DEVRIES Interviewed On 'The Barry Kirkey Radio Show'

July 6, 2009

Rhythm guitarist Matt DeVries of Cleveland metallers CHIMAIRA was recently interviewed on "The Barry Kirkey Radio Show". The program is now available for download as an MP3 audio file at this location.

CHIMAIRA is offering fans the chance to put their own spin on the band's newest video, "Destroy and Dominate". Fans are encouraged to download the video stem files from chimaira.com/destroythevideo and edit their own version. The new versions can be uploaded to CHIMAIRA's YouTube channel, and the bandmembers will hand-pick their favorite three videos. The grand-prize winner will receive the limited-edition box set version of "The Infection" plus tickets to the band's upcoming U.S. tour! The second- and third-prize winners will receive tickets and/or CHIMAIRA merch.

Singer Mark Hunter commented on the contest: "We're all really proud of what friend and director Todd Bell put together for 'Destroy and Dominate' but we were also curious to see what other people would be able to do with the video. We wanted to give fans the chance to have access to the footage and edit their own version of the video. We are curious to see some other takes on it. Fans can submit their video to our YouTube. We're gonna pick the best one and give them one of our limited editon box sets. We'll pick a winner July 10.

He added, "I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. I'm sure we'll see some amazing, some funny and some terrible versions. We're looking forward to seeing them all. I can't wait to do my own version too. Hell, I might even use the footage to make a new CHIMAIRA video!"

"The Infection" entered the official Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) chart at position No. 76. The CD also landed on the chart of the Australian electronics and music retailer JB Hi-Fi at No. 33.

"The Infection" sold 15,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 30 on The Billboard 200 chart.

CHIMAIRA's previous album, "Resurrection", opened with 16,000 copies back in March 2007 to land at No. 42.

CHIMAIRA has announced summer dates supporting HATEBREED on the "Decimation Of The Nation" tour that will also feature heavy hitters WINDS OF PLAGUE, DYING FETUS and TOXIC HOLOCAUST. The trek kicks off on July 31 in Rochester, New York.
