CHIMAIRA's 'The Infection' Lands On German Chart

May 5, 2009

CHIMAIRA's new album, "The Infection", has entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 85. The CD sold 15,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at No. 30 on The Billboard 200 chart.

CHIMAIRA's previous album, "Resurrection", opened with 16,000 copies back in March 2007 to land at No. 42.

Commented vocalist Mark Hunter: "We can't thank our fans enough for supporting this album and spreading the word. In this day and age, when sales are down, and the economy is shit, the fact that we sold what we did is a miracle. We owe it to our fans for keeping us a relevant, top-tier band in the metal genre. Our fans really helped promote this album and it's just as much of a celebration for them as it is for us."

"The Infection" was released in North America on April 21 via Ferret Music and was issued in Europe on April 24 through Nuclear Blast. The CD was mastered at Sterling Sound in New York City with Ted Jensen and Chris "Zeuss" Harris (HATEBREED, SHADOWS FALL, AGNOSTIC FRONT, TERROR, THE ACACIA STRAIN).
