CHRIS CAFFERY: New Solo CD 'Is Shaping Up Well'

April 11, 2008

Guitarist Chris Caffery (SAVATAGE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA) is scheduled to enter the studio at the end of the month to begin recording his new solo album for an October release. According to Chris, the material for the "new CD is shaping up well. I should be close to or right on schedule to start recording on the 28th. Writing does not have to stop then, but I would like it to!

"Will be taking the tracks I record here....guitars, bass, vox....and heading north to Ultimate Music in Cortland to record drums, background vocals, keyboards and mix. This will start June 9th.

"Lonnie Park (TEN MAN PUSH, JOHN WEST BAND) will be handling the engineering and keys. He and Mr. West will assist with back-ups. John Macaluso will attack the drum tracks! Since Mr. Plate lives near by I want to try to get him on some stuff as well.

"I have been getting a lot of emails from singers asking if they could sing the CD or at least guest. However, I do not know if this is the right time for this. I did ask someone to sing a song and he agreed. Hoping this will all come together as planned. Not going to tell you exZAKtly who it is yet!" [Presumably referring to former SAVATAGE and current CIRCLE II CIRCLE singer Zak Stevens. Ed]

Caffery recently revealed that this next solo album will include "a really cool metal cover of 'Get Up, Stand Up' by BOB MARLEY." He added, "It is actually a cool metal anthem!"

Other working songtitles set to appear on the CD include "House of Insanity", "Shame", "Fight The Fleas", "Sorry", "Schizophrenia", "Seasons Change", "Back's To The Wall", "Solitaire", "Winter in Hamburg" and "No Matter What".

The instrumental track "Schizophrenia" will contain "many guest solos," including those from Glen Drover (ex-MEGADETH),Jeff Loomis (NEVERMORE) and Alex Skolnick (TESTAMENT, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA).

According to Chris, he will tour "a lot in 2009" in support of the new CD. Some shows will take place this year, but there will be "no serious touring."

Chris Caffery's latest solo album, "Pins and Needles", was released in Europe in March 2007 via Metal Heaven Records. The CD arrived in North America on June 5 via Locomotive.

The follow-up to 2004's "Faces" and 2005's collection of bonus tracks and new compositions, "W.A.R.P.E.D.", "Pins and Needles" was originally scheduled to be released through Greece's Black Lotus Records, but after the company closed its doors in 2006, Caffery was forced to seek a new label home.
