Chris Cornell's second solo album, "Carry On", is scheduled for release on June 5. Cornell began working on the disc last fall after the release of AUDIOSLAVE's third album, "Revelations". News of the solo project fueled rumors of a split with AUDIOSLAVE, with Cornell officially leaving the band last month due to "irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences." The 14-track effort will feature "You Know My Name", Cornell's theme for the latest James Bond film, "Casino Royale", as well as a cover of MICHAEL JACKSON's "Billie Jean".
Cornell has also contributed a song to the soundtrack of the movie "Bug" and told Launch a little about the movie. "It's based on a play, but it's sort of, it's also an extremely edgy film," he said. "It's an indie film, it's kind of the opposite of the Bond movie in that sense. But an extremely entertaining and powerful movie. I'm not gonna bother trying to describe it 'cause I couldn't help but give it away. But it's definitely a movie to go see, it's extremely intense."
"Bug", which stars Ashley Judd and was helmed by "Exorcist" director William Friedkin, is due in theatres on May 25. The soundtrack also includes songs from VELVET REVOLVER frontman Scott Weiland and SYSTEM OF A DOWN vocalist Serj Tankian.
The other members of AUDIOSLAVE have reactivated their previous band, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, to perform at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in April and three more shows this summer.
