CIRCUS DIABLO: Recording With 'No Music Business Involved At All'

February 7, 2006

Former THE CULT touring bassist and current CAMP FREDDY guitarist Billy Morrison has posted the following update on CIRCUS DIABLO, his new project also featuring former THE ALMIGHTY frontman Ricky Warwick and THE CULT guitarist Billy Duffy, with help from VELVET REVOLVER drummer Matt Sorum:

"And here I am, on a Sunday evening, listening to the different tracks that we did on the demo of the song we are recording tomorrow. This record has been done in a really easy fashion. Probably because there is no music business involved at all!! We got together, demoed the songs at my studio, talked to Matt about re-recording them properly in his studio, and that was that. We are now well under way, with seven songs tracked and three mixed. There is talk of maybe getting in a rehearsal room and recording a couple of songs that way as well. We want to try and put as much stuff on the record as time will allow. Of course, Billy is getting ready to go out on the road with THE CULT, so we only have a limited time to complete whatever we decide to do. But we just keep stepping into the studio every day and doing what we can. The songs that have been mixed sound raw, loud and exciting. Exactly what we were going for. Overthinking can sometimes be the downfall of a great track. So we pretty much kept the arrangements and instrumentation as we had it, and just re-did the songs with Matt playing drums."

Warwick had previously stated about CIRCUS DIABLO: "CIRCUS DIABLO started with some songwriting sessions with Billy Duffy, Billy Morrison and myself. For no other reason than to write some rock songs and have some fun. We ended up writing quite a few tracks and have begun to record them over at Drac Studios, owned by Matt Sorum. Matt has been playing drums on the recordings (as well as co-producing the tracks with us). Myself and Billy Duffy have been recording the guitars, leaving Billy Morrison to handle the lead vocal and bass guitar duties."
