COMMUNIC Frontman Issues Year-End Update

January 2, 2009

Guitarist/vocalist Oddleif Stensland of Norwegian progressive power metallers COMMUNIC has issued the following update:

"Another year is blown away, and it has been a year full of highlights for COMMUNIC, and also on the personal level — even though we didn't went on a tour this year.

"This year we released our third album, and at the same evening as the listening party for our album. I became a first time father to a beautiful girl that now already is nine months old. We was working to get a cool tour going to promote the album, but the right offer did not come our way, and in one way I'm glad. I have had the opportunity to stay home with my daughter and spend as much time as possible on the family duties. I even got the guts to finally get married this winter! But, we had some great experiences on the stage as well. We played some cool festivals like Bloodstock, Masters Of Rock among others, and we even got to visit a new country when we played a festival in Lithuania this summer.

"So, what's up for 2009? Well, right now we don't know, but I have started to write new songs that I have big hopes for — and a lyrical concept that I think will be amazing — and not what you actually would expect from us. I can't promise a release in 2009, as we want to play more live gigs next year, get on as many summer festivals as possible, and hopefully a tour, and then after that focus on putting the new album out."

Austrian heavy 'zine Stormbringer.at conducted an interview with Oddleif Stensland after the Norwegian progressive power metal band's July 13, 2008 concert at the Masters Of Rock Festival in the Czech Republic. Watch the 13-minute chat below.

"Payment of Existence", the latest album from COMMUNIC, entered the German Media Control chart at position No. 94.

"Payment of Existence" was released on May 30, 2008 via Nuclear Blast Records.
