CONTRIVE Taps DEVIN TOWNSEND For New Album Mix

July 21, 2009

Australia's CONTRIVE has tapped Devin Townsend (STRAPPING YOUNG LAD, LAMB OF GOD, DARKEST HOUR) to mix its second album. The follow-up to 2006's "The Meaning Unseen" was recorded at Toyland Studios in Melbourne with producer Adam Calaitzis.

Commented drummer Andrew Haug: "Unless you live in a cave, you should be aware of the great work Devin Townsend has delivered over the years, not only with his own bands but many other albums he has worked on. We're beyond stoked to be working with him on the long awaited second CONTRIVE record. I personally will be heading to Vancouver in the coming weeks to nut out our l'il masterpiece with Dev at Studio D for what will be a killer time and some awesome results!"

The unsigned band will then shop the album around for any label interest.

"The Meaning Unseen" was mixed at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden by Fredrik Nordström (OPETH, ARCH ENEMY).

Andrew Haug has been hosting Triple J's weekly national metal program "The Racket" (formerly "Full Metal Racket") since 2001. He is a longtime metalhead who has conducted interviews with such greats as METALLICA, TOOL, PANTERA, SLAYER, OZZY OSBOURNE and more.
