CONTRIVE To Enter Studio This Week
June 17, 2009Australia's CONTRIVE will enter Toyland Studios in Melbourne this week to begin recording the follow-up to its acclaimed 2006 debut, "The Meaning Unseen".
Commented drummer Andrew Haug: "Finally, we're hitting the studio to record what has been dubbed by friends and even us as the 'Contrive Democracy' — meaning, the album has taken what seems like an eternity to complete. There were several setbacks that can lay blame for this delay over the last few years, including our bassist Tim's motor accident whilst holidaying in earlier this year. I am happy to report he's now all mended and ready to thrash!
"OK, what can I say about the album without creating a long, drawn-out tangent on just how damn great it's going to be? Ha! Well, I can tell you it will contain eight songs and musically? Well, WE DIG IT! You'll have to make up your own minds when it's done!"
"The Meaning Unseen" was mixed at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden by Fredrik Nordström (OPETH, ARCH ENEMY).
Andrew Haug has been hosting Triple J's weekly national metal program "The Racket" (formerly "Full Metal Racket") since 2001. He is a longtime metalhead who has conducted interviews with such greats as METALLICA, TOOL, PANTERA, SLAYER, OZZY OSBOURNE and more.
