CORMORANT Taps JUSTIN WEIS For New Album Mastering

January 20, 2009

San Francisco, California-based progressive black metal act CORMORANT has tapped Justin Weis at Trakworx Studios to master the band's upcoming full-length debut.

Commented CORMORANT bassist/vocalist Arthur von Nagel: "The analog equipment, affordability and SLOUGH FEG / HAMMERS OF MISFORTUNE / LUDICRA / SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM resume were pretty hard to resist! Plus, we like that he's done hip-hop albums, because those have to sound perfect in terms of production. Our drummer's big into rap, and his eyes bugged out at some of the artists that Justin has worked with. Anything SLOUGH FEG-related is enough for me!"

Currently unsigned, CORMORANT is completing the recording process for the as-yet-untitled CD with Billy Anderson (NEUROSIS, MELVINS, SLEEP, PRIMORDIAL) at Sharkbite Studios in Oakland, California. An early-to-mid-spring release is expected.

Combining AGALLOCH's folk-tinged atmosphere, ENSLAVED's avant-garde black metal explorations, and a dose of SLOUGH FEG / IRON MAIDEN traditional heavy metal, CORMORANT's new compositions will appeal to fans of all forms of progressive, story-driven music while still delivering ample headbanging and horn-raising to metal purists. While CORMORANT's formation was an accidental meeting of opposites, their music emerges as more than the sum of its parts.
