CREMAINS: 1987 Quebec Thrash Demo Available For Download
July 12, 2007The 1987 "Back From the Graves" demo cassette by forgotten Quebec thrashers CREMAINS has been made available for download at the Bang! Bang! metal demo blog.
According to the blog post, "this demo is CREMAINS' only output, and it's a shame. The vocal delivery of Chris Eldridge is unique, foreshadowing the weird mystical approach of Sylvain Houde in early KATAKLYSM. Most of the songwriting is furious thrashcore with loads of interesting changes, but there are moments like on the anthemic 'Nuclear Carnage' that resemble the black metal overkill of 'Pure Holocaust'-era IMMORTAL. This is a very cool demo, and although not influential due to its obscurity, it should have been."
Bang! Bang!, the weblog of Ian Christe (author of "Sound of the Beast" and host on Sirius Satellite Radio's Hard Attack),is dedicated to "celebrating the tradition of freely-traded heavy metal demo cassettes and preserving the pioneer spirit of the underground, one magnetic particle at a time."
