CRIMSON GLORY Bassist To Sit Out PROGPOWER USA Performance

July 17, 2009

CRIMSON GLORY bassist Jeff Lords will not participate in the band's headlining appearance at the ProgPower USA tenth-anniversary festival on Friday, September 11, 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia. His statement on the matter reads as follows:

"For reasons, some of which are beyond my control, some not, but all of which, personal, I will not be participating in the [late CRIMSON GLORY singer] Midnight tribute at ProgPower, and to my understanding, the guys will be using a stand-in. They have my blessing. If/when the time comes that Ben [Jackson; guitar], Jon [Drenning; guitar], and Dana [Burnell; drums] want to take the band to the next level — and by then, I'll hopefully have some issues worked out (because this is short notice) — I will become an active member/co-songwriter, once more, fully dedicated to delivering the bass lines that they and the 'GLORY fans come to expect, provided they all want to keep the remaining four members intact."

According to CRIMSON GLORY, "Wade Black will be the main vocalist for the [ProgPower] show, but we are making plans to have several guest singers performing the classic CRIMSON GLORY songs and honoring Midnight's legendary legacy in their own personal and unique ways. John Zahner (SAVATAGE, CRIMSON GLORY, JON OLIVA'S PAIN) will also be joining the band for this performance and we feel very fortunate to have him sharing his talent with us again."

Midnight passed away on Wednesday, July 8 from "total kidney and liver failure." He was 47 years old.

Midnight sang on CRIMSON GLORY's first three albums — "Crimson Glory" (1986),"Transcendence" (1988) and "Strange and Beautiful" (1991) — before going into self-imposed exile for almost a decade. He eventually rejoined CRIMSON GLORY in 2005 but was dismissed in January 2007.
