November 30, 2006CRUICIFIED BARBARA, ZAN CLAN, STARLET SUICIDE and PP7 GAFTZEB are among the bands that will take part in a tribute concert to late CRASHDIET frontman David Hellman (a.k.a. Dave Lepard) on January 21, 2007 in Stockholm, Sweden. All profits will be donated to a special Dave Lepard fund which will benefit young, up-and-coming musicians. Tickets are available at www.ticnet.se.
As previously reported, the surviving members of CRASHDIET have uploaded a couple of teasers for their upcoming DVD at www.crashdiet.org.
Hellman was found dead on January 20, 2006 at his apartment in the Swedish city of Uppsala, north of Stockholm. It was reported in several places that he hanged himself, although this was never officially confirmed.
CRASHDIET was a Stockholm, Sweden-based Eighties hard rock-style band whose debut album, "Rest in Sleaze", entered the Swedish national album chart at position No. 12.
CRASHDIET was reportedly the first "sleaze rock" band in over 10 years to be signed directly to a major company — Universal Music. The group, whose members were said to be in their early 20s, were scheduled to make their U.S. debut in March at the South by Southwest music conference/festival in Austin, Texas.
The remaining members of CRASHDIET have announced plans to carry on with a new vocalist.
