CULT OF LUNA: New Song Posted Online
May 9, 2008Swedish art-rockers CULT OF LUNA have released a brand new song on the band's MySpace page. The track, titled "Eternal Kingdom", comes off the band's upcoming album of the same name, set for release on June 16 in Europe and July 8 in the U.S.
"Eternal Kingdom", the fifth full-length album from CULT OF LUNA, was recorded at Tonteknik Studios in the band's hometown of Ume and was produced by Magnus Lindberg. The follow-up to 2006's "Somewhere along the Highway" is said to be a much heavier and darker affair than previous albums.
CULT OF LUNA founder and guitarist Johannes Persson explains the intriguing story behind the "Eternal Kingdom" album concept at this location.
The recently released "Eternal Kingdom"artwork also has a deep connection to the music contained within.
"The artwork is inspired by old woodcuts and it is definitely the right way of maintain and amplify the harshness of the 'Eternal Kingdom'," said the band. "With the Man/Owl king in the middle, it is a perfect visual representation of how the album is going to sound."
CULT OF LUNA was honored with a "P3 Guld" award (for the band's criticially acclaimed "Somewhere along the Highway" release) in January 2007 from Swedish radio station P3 in the "Best Rock/Metal Album of the Year" category.
