September 29, 2007

Video footage of DANKO JONES' performance that was specially filmed for Toronto's sixth annual "Thin Lizzy - A Celebration: The Music of Phil Lynott" (held on July 21, 2007 at Jeff Healey's Roadhouse in Toronto, Ontario, Canada) can be viewed below.

Danko Jones was at Studio 606 in Los Angeles with Grammy Award-winning producer Nick Raskulinecz (FOO FIGHTERS, RUSH, STONE SOUR, VELVET REVOLVER) working on the band's new album and could not attend the event the person.

Since his untimely death in 1986, THIN LIZZY's Phil Lynott has left a musical legacy that continues to influence and inspire musicians around the globe. Even the legendary Bob Dylan has been recently quoted singing LIZZY's praises. Over the years, Lynott's songs have been covered by an array of such diverse performers as HENRY ROLLINS, THE CORRS, SMASHING PUMPKINS, RANDY BACHMAN, HUEY LEWIS, METALLICA, THE CURE and Canada's own EMM GRYNER.

For the first four years, the proceeds from the event went to the Roisin Dubh Trust to help defray the enormous cost of erecting a statue of Phil Lynott in the heart of Dublin. 19 years after his untimely passing, this memorial in bronze was finally unveiled to a crowd of 6,000 fans on August 19, 2005. With the statue in place, subsequent show's proceeds have gone to such worthy causes as the Canadian Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CCFF) and the TOMA Foundation for Burned Children.

DANKO JONES' follow-up to 2006's "Sleep is the Enemy" is tentatively due in early 2008.

The past five years have been a whirlwind for the band, which saw DANKO JONES play virtually every major European festival, including Rock Im Park, Rock Am Ring, Wacken Open Air, Hellfest, Leeds, Lowlands, Roskilde, Gurten, Hultsfred, Reading and Ozzfest. In addition to non-stop touring, Danko Jones also appeared on the new ANNIHILATOR album "Metal" (released in April 2007),on the track "Couple Suicide", with ARCH ENEMY singer Angela Gossow.
