DARKANE Guitarist Checks In From The Road

March 5, 2009

DARKANE guitarist Christofer Malmström has issued the following update from the band's North American tour with SOILWORK, WARBRINGER and SWALLOW THE SUN:

"We are cruising towards San Francisco as I write this. Such beautiful sights outside the bus windows!

"The tour is still going very well for DARKANE although we've had some serious problems with illness and everybody except for Jens [Broman; vocals] is in a pretty bad shape right now. After Klas [Ideberg; guitar] left us in Mokena, we were joined by great guitar shredder Toby Knapp [ex-ONWARD], but, unfortunately, he also got ill and had to leave the tour after nine shows. Thanks, Toby, you did a great job!!! We have now decided to do this tour as a four-piece unit, and it's working out pretty well, I must say.

"We did nine shows in snowy Canada, and the audience has been great all the way. We have played pretty weird places such as a campus and a roller skating rink, but wherever we've been, we've felt very welcome! Now we are looking forward to do the West Coast and get some warm air in sore throats."

"Demonic Art", the fifth album from DARKANE, sold around 600 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD debuted at No. 104 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Demonic Art" was released in North America on February 10 via Nuclear Blast Records. The North America version of the CD, which came out in Europe on October 24, 2008 via Massacre Records, contains a bonus track and a bonus DVD.
