DARKANE: Studio Video Diary Part 3 Available

March 23, 2008

Drummer Peter Wildoer of the Swedish thrashers DARKANE has issued the following update from the recording sessions for the group's new studio album, due later in the year via Nuclear Blast Records:

"So finally the third video blog is done! It features me recording some drum parts and I hope you like it. The next video will feature guitar recording and will be up in a week or so. As you understand, the videos take some time to edit and that's why they are a bit behind what's actually happening in the studio. Currently Jens [Broman] is recording vocals in the studio and he sounds killer! We've done three songs so far and I'm very happy with the result. Previously this week we recorded strings, horns and tuba for the intro ('Variations of an Eye Crush') and a song called 'Execution 44'. What can I say?! Sounds fantastic! Christofer [Malmstrm, guitar] has done great arrangements, as always, for the orchestra. It's an honour to be able to be a part of his amazing work. If you liked our past intros, then you'll like this one as well. Also, all rhythm guitars are done and so are the melody/extra guitars. The bass is almost done, three more songs to go. As I said, we're doing vocals now and are mixing that with recording solo guitars when Jens needs a rest. Christofer has done some solos and he's on fire! Klas [Ideberg, guitar] still hasn't started but will do so this coming week."

DARKANE played its first show with new singer Jens Broman (CONSTRUCDEAD, THE DEFACED) in November 2007 at the ProgPower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark. According to guitarist Christofer Malmstrm, "Jens enjoyed every second of the show, and so did the rest of us. Our former vocalist Andreas was in the audience to support us, and he was very postive afterwards... along with the rest of the crowd."

DARKANE's upcoming DVD was shot in May 2006 in the band's hometown of Helsingborg, Sweden.

DARKANE has been confirmed for Chicago Powerfest 2008. The sixth annual metal festival will take place on Friday/Saturday, May 2-3, at The Pearl Room in Mokena, IL. There will also be an official Powerfest "kick-off" show on May 1, featuring ENSIFERUM, TURISAS, TYR and ELUVEITIE, who will be making a stop along their Paganfest tour.
