DAVE MUSTAINE Once Again Headed For Divorce Court

March 7, 2008

Based on this "Case Detail" page on the web site of the San Diego Superior Court, it appears that MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has once again filed for the dissolution of his marriage to Pamela Mustaine.

The new papers were filed on February 28, 2008 — more than a year and a half after Mustainelast filed for divorce, only to apparently change his mind and withdraw the petition.

Dave Mustaine married Pamela Anne Casselberry in 1991. They have one son, Justis, born in 1992, and a daughter, Electra, born in 1998. The family has lived in Arizona, but is believed to currently reside in Fallbrook, California.

In a February 20, 2008 online chat via the Gigantour forum, Mustaine stated about his situation at home, "I am losing my marriage so I am done touring after this so I can move on with my life. . . I just have had my heart broken and I live for my two children and you [the fans] now." Dave added, "I had to shut the MEGADETH eBay store because it was one of my future ex's friends and she told me I wasn't a good enough Christian and also sent money to someone that claimed I owed her money. I flipped and that was it. Two days later I was in Finland and heading for divorce."

In a March 2007 interview with "The Radio 1 Rock Show with Daniel P. Carter" on BBC Radio 1, Mustaine spoke about about how his family life has been affected by MEGADETH's extensive touring. "There needs to be time off in between each leg for me to nurture my family, because I just resolved heading for divorce, and that was really a terrible thing," he said. "It was not meant to be public, but because of the vultures that wait on my bedpost for everything I ever say — everything I do is on a particular web site [apparently referring to the June 15, 2006 BLABBERMOUTH.NETarticle about him filing for divorce — Ed.] — and it was unfortunate. We're together — my wife is actually here [in England] with me now [on a promotional trip for the band's new CD], with my son, and it's a great thing. Because over the years, it never really worked well because the music was always first. It ain't anymore, and that's why this record ['United Abominations'] turned out as good as it is. Because my family is first… Well, my family is actually second. My faith is first, and then my family is second, and then the music is third. So because everything else is going so good, when I go into the guitar world and I put on my little headphones and pick up my guitar, it's like, 'OK, now it's time to unleash the beast and to really, really just get it on.' Instead of being in character all day long, every day. 'Oh, look, it's Dave Mustaine.' 'Gosh, he was really nice, but when he got on stage, he was a monster.' That's what I like — I like getting on stage and being the guy that everybody thinks they know."
