DAVE MUSTAINE: The Most Important Thing Is TOM ARAYA's Rehabilitation
November 3, 2009MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine has issued the following update:
"I want to inform you that it is indeed true, we are postponing our Canadian Carnage tour due to our tour mates in SLAYER needing some time off for frontman Tom Araya to address some personal matters with his health. We send our best wishes to Tom and look forward to his speedy recovery. Meanwhile, we will be rescheduling these dates in the near future, although that date is currently unknown, and contingent upon SLAYER's notifying us of Tom's progress. The most important thing is Tom's rehabilitation, and we will no doubt have good news for you all soon."
The "Canadian Carnage" tour — featuring SLAYER, MEGADETH, MACHINE HEAD and SUICIDE SILENCE — was called off after SLAYER frontman Tom Araya was ordered to undergo an immediate surgical procedure for a back injury, thought to be related to his on-stage activity.
Fortunately, MACHINE HEAD was able to reschedule its only United States headlining show at the Crazy Donkey in Farmingdale, New York. The concert is now set to take place Thursday, November, 12.
MEGADETH's new album, "Endgame", has sold around 80,000 copies in the United States since its release six weeks ago.
"Endgame" sold 45,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 9 on The Billboard 200 chart.
MEGADETH's previous CD, "United Abominations", opened with around 54,000 copies in the U.S. to debut at No. 8. This was more than the 46,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The System Has Failed" (which landed at No. 18 on The Billboard 200 chart),and was a bit less than the 61,000 opening number of 2001's "The World Needs A Hero" (No. 16).
"Endgame" was recorded at MEGADETH's brand new, self-built studio in San Marcos, California — Vic's Garage — which was named after the legendary and iconic Vic Rattlehead character. The CD was helmed by MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine and British producer Andy Sneap (EXODUS, NEVERMORE, ARCH ENEMY, MACHINE HEAD).
