DAVID COVERDALE: 'I Can't Confirm Or Deny' WHITESNAKE Lineup Rumors

December 11, 2002

WHITESNAKE mastermind David Coverdale has refused to comment on the growing rumors that he has enlisted guitarist Doug Aldrich (DIO, HURRICANE, LION),bassist Marco Mendoza (THIN LIZZY, BLUE MURDER) and drummer Tommy Aldridge (OZZY OSBOURNE, TED NUGENT, THIN LIZZY) to perform as his backing band on the group's upcoming reunion tour. "I can't confirm, or deny, at this time," is all Coverdale had to say when confronted with the reports that the stellar collection of musicians would be embarking on the road alongside DOKKEN and THE SCORPIONS beginning at the end of January. When asked if it was true that John Sykes (THIN LIZZY, BLUE MURDER) was contacted about partaking in the tour via a personal call from Coverdale several weeks ago (as claimed by Sykes in a recent interview),Coverdale said, "I'd rather not discuss who was, or wasn't, invited to participate in the band, if you don't mind… I feel it would be inappropriate." Meanwhile, the first few dates for the upcoming trek have been leaked. They are as follows:

Jan. 31 - West Palm Beach, FL @ Coral Sky Amphitheatre
Feb. 02 – Tampa, FL @ St. Pete Times Forum
Feb. 27 - Minneapolis, MN @ Target Center
Feb. 28 - Chicago, IL @ Allstate Arena

The complete itinerary is expected to be released within the next couple of weeks.
