DAVID ELLEFSON: 'F5 Is A Bold Step Forward' From MEGADETH
November 14, 2005Ex-MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson recently spoke with "The Hairball John Radio Show" regarding his new band F5 and their debut release, "A Drug for All Seasons". In the interview, Ellefson discusses the formation of F5, his hopes for obtaining airplay in a very fickle FM market and shares several personal highlights from his numerous years with MEGADETH. Ellefson also addressed the musical differences between F5 and MEGADETH and why he feels MEGADETH fans will enjoy "A Drug For All Seasons".
David Ellefson: "I think that F5 is definitely a pretty bold step forward. I know a lot of fans of my former work (MEGADETH) really like when, you know there is a long history there and I certainly respect that a lot of my fans have been there from the beginning back in the early and mid Eighties. And as a progressive and traditional metal fan myself I understand when people want to hear what they grew up on. And I think some of those elements come through in F5's music in songs like 'Bleeding' and others. But at the same time F5 is a new band, it's a new set of faces, it's a new day, it's a new era and I feel really good that as this record was being recorded we were stumbling across a lot of new ideas, new melodies and new hooks. We were like, 'Let's just follow our gut on this one and that is what we did and that is what you have with 'A Drug for All Seasons'."
