Released in early June, "Strummin' with the Devil: The Southern Side of Van Halen" is a collection of VAN HALEN songs done in bluegrass style. The CD features Roth alongside the JOHN JORGENSON BLUEGRASS BAND on twangy renditions of "Jump" and "Jamie's Cryin'", as well as a special radio edit of the latter.

In the liner notes, the Indiana-born Roth explains that "my roots were always kind of country — not the same country as my first band. Their flag had windmills. Mine had BBQ pit and a shot glass."

In other news, Dave was interviewed by Mike Errico for Blender.com's "The Ultimate Online Guide To Music And More". Dave talks about how "Strummin' with the Devil: The Southern Side of Van Halen" came together, his thoughts about the performances and whether the other original VAN HALEN members are aware of his current activities.
