DE PROFUNDIS Announces New Drummer
July 21, 2008London, UK-based progressive doom metal band DE PROFUNDIS has announced the addition of drummer Nick Tingle to the group's ranks. "We were extremely impressed by his professional attitude, superb technical ability and fantastic feel for music," the group writes in a statement. "Nick is a trained musician who has also studied with Dan Foord (SIKTH) and David Gray (AKERCOCKE). Nick really adds his own touch to our songs, breathing a twisted new life into them."
The band adds, "Nick's live debut with DE PROFUNDIS will happen at Bloodstock Open Air festival 2008. We are all really excited to be appearing at UK's premier extreme metal festival and are honoured to play alongside so many great bands.
"We would also like to thank David Andrews, who has been performing with us live whilst we were looking for a new drummer since Sterghios Moschos' departure from the band following his move to Canterbury.
"We are now also focusing on writing new material for our second album, due to be recorded in January 2009."
DE PROFUNDIS's debut album, "Beyond Redemption", was self-released on August 21, 2007. The CD was recorded and mixed by Steve Watkins at Warehouse Studios, Oxford and was mastered by Tim Turan, who has worked with such artists as OPETH, EMPEROR, DIMMU BORGIR and AT THE GATES.
While maintaining the traditional crushing and eternally despairing sound of doom metal, DE PROFUNDIS also has many genre-defying and unique touches to its sound, such as jazz-funk slap bass, black metal blast-beats and a fully stereo guitar attack with technical guitar solos. DE PROFUNDIS also boasts an original logo by none other than the black metal legend Christophe Szpajdel.
