DEAD TO FALL To Play 'Final Farewell Show' In Chicago

The now-defunct Chicago- and Minneapolis-based deathcore band DEAD TO FALL will play its final farewell show on Sunday, May 24 at Metro in Chicago, Illinois. Suport at the gig will come from VEIL OF MAYA, CARNIVALE, DEVIL'S PIE and ABOVE THIS FIRE.

Commented vocalist Jonathan Hunt, "After we decided to split up, it just never felt right to not play one last time in Chicago, the city where we got our start. After about a year of planning and debating how to pull it off, we decided to do this show, but with as many members from our history as possible. I'm so excited to be able to share the stage again with so many of the friends I've had over the years in the band. A lot of the people who got into the band in the last four years never got to see the original lineup play the first record live, or [2004's] 'Villainy & Virtue' for that matter. We wanted to send this band into history on a positive note, embracing all of the records equally in the form that they should have been heard live — with the people who wrote the music performing."

DEAD TO FALL will be splitting its set into three parts featuring bandmembers from each of the group's four major eras: "Villainy & Virtue", "The Phoenix Throne", "Are You Serious?" and "Everything I Touch Falls To Pieces". Hunt said, "I think it will be something memorable to end the set the way we began, with the original lineup that started it all. This is a chance for us, as well as our fans, to give DEAD TO FALL a goodbye of sorts. I guess if music could have a funeral, this would be it — not in a sad way, but more like a massive party and celebration of something that was a huge part of all our lives."

While selecting support acts for this final farewell show, DEAD TO FALL chose four bands that they spent some of their favorite times with to share the stage. Support acts include ABOVE THIS FIRE from Cleveland, Ohio; southern Illinois-based DEVIL'S PIE (last show ever),CARNIVALE from suburban Chicagoland (last show ever),and local up-and-comers VEIL OF MAYA. Hunt said, "This is, in fact, the end of an era for DEAD TO FALL and several of the bands we'll be playing with. We are happy to see bands like VEIL OF MAYA and other amazing Chicago-based bands fighting the good fight. Who knows what you'll hear from the guys that did time in DEAD TO FALL, but I'm sure you’ll be hearing from us soon."

Formed in 1999, DEAD TO FALL drew influences from Swedish metal, hardcore, death metal, and other genres, but was usually labeled a metalcore band. The band's first two albums reached combined sales of 60,000 copies in the U.S. alone (according to publicity material released through Victory Records).

DEAD TO FALL's fourth album, "Are You Serious?", was released in February 2008 via Victory.
