DEADLY BLESSING Vows To Continue Following Singer's Departure
November 15, 2006The remaining members of South New Jersey metal band DEADLY BLESSING have issued a statement regarding the sudden departure of singer Ski (as first reported by BLABBERMOUTH.NET yesterday).
"DEADLY BLESSING is shocked and somewhat saddened to hear of Ski's sudden departure," the statement begins. "Although we do not fully understand his reasoning, we wish him well.
"We had just returned from a successful show in Puerto Rico only to have received an e-mail stating he was leaving, giving no respect to his so called 'brothers.' Not a phone call, not a face-to-face meeting, an E-MAIL. Real 'Christian,' like, huh? For Ski to post this information on OUR website without even as much as a discussion within the band was completely out of line, definitely unprofessional and one might say immature. Than again, he posted every shit this band ever took, even though it was thought of as a bad idea by other members.
"Ski is a confused individual who obviously needs some kind of guidance to fill a void left by some other emptiness in his life. We WILL NOT let this person's emptiness drain the soul of this band. We do not know what that void is because there was never any co communication between him and the band about his personal life, nor should there have been. We knew he was 'born again,' that's it. We believe we respected that in unspoken terms.
"DEADLY BLESSING is a family, almost like a perfect circle (like most families),but it was never truly complete because of a certain member. He showed the ultimate form of selfishness in this situation, which is the opposite of everything so-called 'Christian-like.' No attacking here, just honesty.
"All of us have overcome personal adversities to the best of our abilities, without crutches or blankets to shield us. We accepted, dealt with and overcame from within. The four of us are warriors and we will continue to fight and claw our way through. DEADLY BLESSING will find a new vocalist and will carry on and rock even harder. No one person is bigger than this band. WE WERE NOT SKI'S BACKUP BAND, WE ARE NOT A CHRISTIAN BAND, WE ARE A KICK-ASS BAND, PERIOD. We will make this work, or go down in flames trying. For our family, friends, ourselves and most importantly our fans. We will not stop. You are only witnessing the beginning of what lies ahead. The best is yet to come!"
As previously reported, a video clip of DEADLY BLESSING performing a cover of LIZZY BORDEN's "Notorious" live at the Boricua Metal Fest III in Cayey, Puerto Rico last Saturday (November 11) has been posted online at YouTube.com.
DEADLY BLESSING's version of "Notorious" is slated to appear on the LIZZY BORDEN tribute album, entitled "Baptized in Blood", to be released via Metallicarchangel Records. Other bands that are expected to appear on the CD include TWISTED TOWER DIRE ("Godiva"),ICARUS WITCH ("Rod of Iron"),FAITH FACTOR ("American Metal"),MALAKIS REIGN ("Hell is for Heroes"),MYSTIC FORCE ("Me Against the World"),OCTOBER 31 ("No Time to Lose"),IMMORTAL AVENGER ("Be One of Us"),SOLEMNITY ("Visions"),SILENCE, MOBSCENE, STRONGHOLD and LIGEIA.
DEADLY BLESSING recorded "Notorious" in early March 2006. According to Ski, the recording sessions — which marked the band's first time in the studio since the recording of their classic "Ascend from the Cauldron" in 1988 — "went great."
