DEATHRASH: 'Thrash Beyond Death' CD Due Later In The Year
May 31, 2006Bassist/founding member Pat Burns of the long-defunct New Jersey thrashers DEATHRASH has sent the following update to BLABBERMOUTH.NET:
"The title of the [upcoming collection of previously available DEATHRASH demo/live recordings and new material] is going to be 'Thrash Beyond Death' and will be available through our website Deathrash.net. We have remixed the 'Faces of Death' demo and it sounds better than ever. We are currently still mixing the live tracks. The cover art is being done by acclaimed New York City artist Rich Rethorn, whose work can be seen at RichRethorn.com. I've seen the rough sketches and it is going to look awesome. We are looking forward to a late summer release. Anyone wanting to contact me can reach me at [email protected]."
The upcoming DEATHRASH CD is expected to include live recordings circa 1986-87 from CBGB in New York City, The Grunge Club in upstate New York and the band's last show at The Electric Banana in Pittsburgh. In addition, the album will include two new recordings: a 2006 version of "Buried Alive" — which was originally featured on the "Speed Metal Hell 2" compilation — and a new song called "Unfinished Business" that "really thrashes," according to Burns. All the original members are involved: John Scherer (vocals),Pat Nemeth (guitar),Tim Scherer (guitar) and Pat Burns (bass). A new drummer has yet to be announced.
DEATHRASH's lineup briefly included drummer Tony Scaglione, who had previously played with WHIPLASH, SLAYER, LUDICHRIST and RAGING SLAB, among other acts.
In other news, Burns will be marrying his girlfriend Kristen Fogg in the Valley of Fire, Las Vegas on June 6.
