DECAPITATED Guitarist Says It's 'Too Early' To Say If Band Will Continue

July 30, 2008

SeaOfTranquility.org recently conducted an interview with DECAPITATED guitarist Waclaw "Vogg" Kieltyka. An excerpt from the question-and-answer session follows.

SeaOfTranquility.org: The last year has been pretty tumultuous for the band. If you can, please talk about the accident and how the band has tried to recover from it in the months after it.

Vogg: "It's really hard to talk about this. We had the accident in Russia one day before the last show on this tour. My brother Vitek [drums], as you know, died and Covan [vocals] is still recovering. I can say only that time makes things better."

SeaOfTranquility.org: Vitek was a one-of-a-kind drummer, who was being praised as one of the best of the new breed of extreme metal drummers. Can you talk a little bit about him, and what he was like as a person both on the stage and away from the music?

Vogg: "He was a beautiful person, such a great human being. He was always smiling, helpful, and friendly to everybody, so talented, and a real hard working person. He was my brother and my best friend. I cannot imagine that I will never talk to him or play with him again. Jamming with him was everything for me, everything that I loved. I was always proud of whatever he did, because he was so briliant, and such a good man. I can't believe he is not here now."

SeaOfTranquility.org: Our heartfelt condolences go out to you — this is such a terrible loss. How is Covan recovering from the accident?

Vogg: "Covan is still recovering. I'm sorry, but I cannot talk about his condition now. I can only say that he needs a lot of time to recover. Perhaps one, two, maybe three years? Nobody knows at this point."

SeaOfTranquility.org: So, what are the future plans for DECAPITATED? Is the band going to continue on?

Vogg: "I'm still thinking about that but I don't know what to say at this point... it's still too early."
