DEEP PURPLE: 30th Anniversary Edition Of 'Burn' To Include Bonus Tracks
March 13, 2004According to the Deep Purple Appreciation Society, the 30th Anniversary, remastered edition of DEEP PURPLE's "Burn" is scheduled for a release on April 14. The album will probably include, apart from the eight original tracks, "Coronarias Redig" (single b-side) and remixes of "Burn", "Mistreated", "You Fool No One" and "Sail Away".
EMI Records reportedly asked DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover to oversee work on the "Burn" reissue but in the end he decided not to get involved in the project. Instead the extra match-mixes were done at Metropolis studios in London. It is hoped Glenn Hughes will check the results and provide input into the project, which he is keen to do.
Cassettes of the "Burn" rehearsals have been located, but sadly the sound quality is not thought good enough for them to feature. There has been discussion of a true 5.1 mix but such a mix has not been done and is not currently scheduled.
In other DEEP PURPLE-related news, the group will be releasing the track "Well Dressed Guitar" as a world-exclusive to Telstra's BigPond web site (www.bigpondmusic.com). It will be available later this month.
