DEEP PURPLE Bassist: I'm Not Surprised By Rhode Island Concert Tragedy
February 25, 2003DEEP PURPLE bassist Roger Glover says that he's not all that surprised about the Rhode Island club fire that killed 97 people at a GREAT WHITE show last week.
"I've been in clubs where that could easily have happened, what happened the other night," Glover told Launch. "I'm not gonna comment on that particular fire, because obviously it's very, very tragic, and there are all kinds of finger-pointing and blame going on that is all out of proportion. It's only there because so many people died. They were only interested in just, you know, having a good time — that's the sad part of it. And I certainly think that, you know, laws and bylaws, and fire drills and stuff like that should be enforced, because bands are just as much in danger as people, you know? You're all in the same boat together."
