DEEP PURPLE, BLUE ÖYSTER CULT To Play Free Concert In Michigan
March 9, 2005Classic rock greats DEEP PURPLE and BLUE ÖYSTER CULT have been confirmed for the 2005 Fox Fest at the Ionia Free Fairground in Ionia, MI on Friday, June 17. They will be joined by up-and-coming artists KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD and Grand Rapids rock band BROKEN SUNDAY.
Rich Berry, sales manager for WBCT B-93 and WBFX-The Fox, the stations that host the Birthday Bash and Fox Fest, respectively, told the Ionia Sentinel-Standard that this year's musical lineup is stellar.
"(DEEP PURPLE) hasn't played in this area in decades," Berry said, citing popular "Fox" jock Aris Hampers as his well-informed source.
BLUE ÖYSTER CULT played at the first Fox Fest in 2002 and will be returning to the big stage at Ionia. SHEPHERD, a classic rock guitar phenom in his teens, and BROKEN SUNDAY will also provide a hip, newcomer vibe to the massive free concert.
