DEEP PURPLE Drummer To Perform At U.K. Charity Concert

December 6, 2005

DEEP PUPLE drummer Ian Paice will be accompanied by several other "top musicians" for an appearance at a charity show in Reading, U.K. on Friday, January 13, 2006. All profits from the event will be donated to organizer DrumWright's adopted charity, Tong-Len, which supports primary education for highly deprived children in Northern India.

Commented DrumWright managing director Chris Wright: "Ian has been kind enough to donate his services for free — and not for the first time. We arranged a drum clinic to raise funds for the NSPCC in 1999, and not long after, he appeared in BBC's 'Children in Need', performing his party piece, the one-handed drum roll."

This time, DrumWright wanted Paice to demonstrate his skills in a musical context with other top musicians. No names has been revealed yet but the organizers promise "some big names from rock — and some fresh young talent too."
