DEEP PURPLE Guitarist To Sit Out TV Appearances; Producer BRADFORD To Step In

November 20, 2005

According to a posting on the DEEP PURPLE fan site The Highway Star, producer Michael Bradford ("Bananas", "Rapture of the Deep") will replace guitarist Steve Morse at PURPLE's European TV appearances that are coming up shortly. Steve Morse is unable to appear with the band due to personal reasons. Morse will be back with the group for the world tour starting on January 17 in London.

As previously reported, DEEP PURPLE will perform on the Swedish TV show "Bingolotto" on Channel 4 on November 27 (the same show that BLACKMORE'S NIGHT appeared on a few years ago). They will reportedly play a new song off their latest CD, "Rapture of the Deep", plus one older song.

DEEP PURPLE's latest album, "Rapture of the Deep", sold 2,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In the U.K., the album sold 3,500 copies the first week and 1,200 copies the week after. This took the album to No. 81 in the charts first week and No. 184 the week after.
