June 27, 2005DEEP PURPLE drummer Ian Paice's drum clinic in Croydon last year is due out shortly on DVD. It features sets by Paice and Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS),filmed on stage before an enthusiastic crowd of fans and drummers. The DVD can be ordered online at Deep-Purple.net.
DEEP PURPLE recently spent five weeks at a Los Angeles studio recording their new album with producer Mike Bradford. The album, which will be the group's first release since their split with the EMI label, is described by keyboardist Don Airey as "a lot heavier" than 2003's "Bananas". "We recorded it in the same studio that use to be used by KORN, and it's got a wonderful sound," Airey said. "It's got a real, immediate drum and organ sound. I was really happy working in there."
