DEEP PURPLE Reissues Latest Album With Bonus Tracks

Launch Radio Networks is reporting that an expanded version of the latest DEEP PURPLE album, "Rapture of the Deep", was released yesterday (Tuesday, June 27). The new version pairs the original release with a second CD that has, among other things, a new version of the song "Clearly Quite Absurd" and five live performances from when the band reopened the Hard Rock Cafe in London last October. PURPLE guitarist Steve Morse told Launch the atmosphere that night helped the band play exceptionally well. "Any time you play in a club, the energy's fantastic. I don't know — just (an) excited crowd right at our feet, literally, 'cause it's a tiny little place, and just a packed crowd, so close to the equipment. It gets a really nice sound," he said.

Among the live cuts are the classic DEEP PURPLE songs "Highway Star", "Smoke on the Water", and "Perfect Strangers".

DEEP PURPLE is on a bit of a break from the road at the moment. The band heads back out starting July 6 in Innsbruck, Austria. It doesn't look like they'll be playing any U.S. shows this year.

PURPLE frontman Ian Gillan will do month-long solo tour around North America in August and September. Those dates are in support of his album "Gillan's Inn".
