DEEP PURPLE Split With EMI RECORDS
April 16, 2005According to Deep-Purple.net, DEEP PURPLE have formally announced that they have left EMI Records, with whom they released "Abandon", "Live At Olympia" and "Bananas", and will make an announcement about their new label deal very shortly. Apart from back catalogue, this marks the end of EMI's current links with the DEEP PURPLE family after more than forty years.
As previously reported, DEEP PURPLE frontman Ian Gillan is currently working on his new album, "Gillan's Inn", which will document and celebrate his 40 years in the rock world. Guest musicians on the CD will include Joe Satriani, Don Airey, Ian Paice, Mickey Lee Soule, Roger Glover, Jeff Healey, Janick Gers, Jon Lord, Steve Morris and Dean Howard among others. The recordings will be completed by the end of April, while mixing and mastering will be done by the end of May. Concurrently, a documentary is in production for English network television, and it will eventually see release on DVD.
