DEEP PURPLE: Two New Live DVDs On The Way

August 7, 2003

Two DEEP PURPLE DVDs will shortly be issued through the new label T2 Records, according to www.thehighwaystar.com. The first DVD is the famous "Live In Denmark 1972" recording from Copenhagen, taken directly from the original 1" video-tape masters, with special attention being given to the audio and to the picture, which is being painstakingly restored to remove occasional sound on vision problems. Although only a monochrome picture, this is being carefully framed to give a full widescreen image. The DVD is scheduled for a release in late 2003.

The second DVD will be the famous "Live At The California Jam", recorded at the Ontario Motor Speedway in California on April 6, 1974. The DVD edition is taken direct from the original 2" video-tape masters. An extra track, "Lay Down Stay Down", not available before, has been restored to the show. In addition, eight reels of alternate camera angles have been incorporated into the DVD. Interviews with bandmembers and road crew are being undertaken, and additional 8-mm footage taken from the control tower and at the motel where the band were staying is a further bonus. Picture and memorabilia galleries are to be included. The package will also be issued as a special edition with a poster and reproduction ticket. The DVD is scheduled for release in early 2004.
