DEF LEPPARD Bassist Pays Tribute To Radio Presenter DAVE KILNER

October 15, 2009

Lesley Draper of the Sheffield Telegraph reports that DEF LEPPARD bassist Rick Savage was one of hundreds of friends and colleagues who attended the funeral yesterday of long-standing radio presenter Dave Kilner. Dave, who died aged 48, was also known as the voice of Sheffield United and for his charity work across the area.

The cortège entered Sheffield Cathedral to the strains of DEF LEPPARD's "Two Steps Behind", the coffin bearing a simple spray of white roses and lilies.

Before the service, Savage told The Star that his memories of the DJ were "too many to mention."

"We mutually gave each other helping hands at the beginning of our careers and that blossomed into an ongoing friendship," the rocker said.

"This is a really sad day," he added.

A video report from The Star, which includes a short interview with Savage, can be viewed at this location.
