DEF LEPPARD: 'Rock Of Ages' Certified Platinum

March 22, 2006

DEF LEPPARD's "Rock of Ages: The Definitive Collection" two-CD compilation of hits, was certified platinum on February 7, 2006 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of 500,000 copies (NOTE: multi-disc albums get counted once for each disc within the album; regular platinum certification occurs at 1 million copies). The collection, which was originally released in May 2005, has shifted 463,000 copies in the United States so far, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

As previously reported, DEF LEPPARD and JOURNEY will be teaming up for a U.S. tour this summer. So far only one date has been officially announced: July 13 at the Chastain Park Amphitheatre in Atlanta, Georgia.

DEF LEPPARD's all-covers set, entitled "Yeah!", is tentatively scheduled for release in May. Guitarist Phil Collen told Billboard.com last year that the album will include "a bunch of stuff — all '70s stuff. Most of it is songs that we grew up with in England. 'No Matter What' by BADFINGER is going to be the leadoff single. We've done 'Waterloo Sunset' by THE KINKS, T. REX, MOTT THE HOOPLE, ROXY MUSIC and THIN LIZZY. And a lot of it is obscure; it's not the standard stuff. It's not like STONES or BEATLES songs."
