DEF LEPPARD Rocks NHL Opening Night In Detroit; Video Available
October 10, 2008DEF LEPPARD performed last night (Thursday, October 9) at Detroit's Fox Theatre prior to the NHL's North American opener between the Red Wings and the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs. The concert — which featured the songs "C'Mon, C'Mon", "Let's Get Rocked", "Animal", "Pour Some Sugar On Me", "Foolin'", "Nine Lives" and "Armageddon It" — preceded the raising of Detroit's 2008 Stanley Cup championship banner and the game between the Red Wings and the Leafs at Joe Louis Arena.
According to a posting on the DEF LEPPARD fan site Def Leppard Satellite Of Love, at the beginning of "Pour Some Sugar On Me", two players from Detroit Red Wings brought out the Stanley Cup for the crowd to see and cheer. As the crowd cheered, LEPPARD singer Joe Elliott took the trophy, held it above his head and escorted it to the safety of a display case located at one side of the stage.
Video footage of the "C'Mon, C'Mon" performance and the raising of the Stanley Cup can be viewed below.
