DEFIANCE Guitarist Launches ONE LESS ENEMY
August 22, 2010Shawn Bozarth, guitarist for the resurrected Oakland, California thrash metal act DEFIANCE, has formed ONE LESS ENEMY, a three-piece metal band where he plays all guitars and handles vocal duties.
With DEFIANCE currently on a break, ONE LESS ENEMY is writing material for its debut album and will be ready to hit the stage by late August/early September.
Commented Bozarth: "ONE LESS ENEMY is a scathing metal act that creates music that channels raw energy, anger and strife. Metal to us isn't just a style or genre, it's a fucking religion!
"Being that I'm into so many types of metal — from thrash, black, death [to] groove metal — the combination of influences is creating a real motherfucker that is going to turn heads!
"I'm honored to have my metal brothers Nate Brewer (drums) and Kris Olson (bass) by my side in this kick-ass project! Look for us in late 2010 and beyond!"
DEFIANCE played its first show since 1994 on December 19, 2009 at Blake's on Telegraph in Berkeley, California.
Mark Hernandez (drums) and Steev Esquivel (vocals) left DEFIANCE last year to concentrate on their primary bands, FORBIDDEN and SKINLAB, respectively.
DEFIANCE's new album, "The Prophecy", was released on October 19, 2009 via Candlelight Records. The first collection of new music from DEFIANCE in over 15 years was recorded at Trident Studios and Greendot Studios in East Bay, California.
