DEFTONES: 'Covers' Vinyl Collection Detailed

February 28, 2011

DEFTONES have announced that they will release a vinyl collection of cover songs, imaginatively titled "Covers", in commemoration of Record Store Day on April 16. According to The Pulse Of Radio, the record will be limited to just 5,000 copies and contain DEFTONES versions of songs from THE CURE, THE SMITHS, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and DURAN DURAN, among others. Most of the songs on the LP have previously been made available as B-sides and iTunes bonus tracks, but this will be the first time they've been compiled together on what is likely to be a collector's item for DEFTONES fans.

The track listing for the "Covers" album is:

Side A:

01. "Drive" (THE CARS)
02. "Caress" (Drive Like Jehu)
03. "Please Please Let Me Get What I Want" (THE SMITHS)
04. "No Ordinary Love" (SADE)
05. "Savory" (JAWBOX)
06. "Do You Believe" (THE CARDIGANS)

Side B:

01. "Simple Man" (LYNYRD SKYNYRD)
02. "Ghosts" (JAPAN)
03. "The Chauffeur" (DURAN DURAN)
04. "If Only Tonight We Could Sleep" (THE CURE)
05. "Sleep Walk" (SANTO & JOHNNY)

DEFTONES will begin a spring North American tour in support of last year's "Diamond Eyes" album on April 14 in Seattle, finishing up two months later on June 13 in San Francisco. THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN will open all the shows.

"Diamond Eyes", the sixth DEFTONES album, came out last May. The CD's latest single, "You've Seen The Butcher", is a Top 20 hit at rock radio.
