DEFTONES: New Audio Interview With STEPHEN CARPENTER Posted Online

September 15, 2006

The "Cort and Fatboy Show" (Rock 101 KUFO, Portland) recently conducted an interview with Stephen Carpenter of the DEFTONES. Topics discussed include his being angry at singer Chino Moreno's selfishness, meeting KISS, partying on Jonathan Davis' stripper bus, his early influences, his utter lack of skill in the field of guitar solos and a vague timeline for Northwest tour dates. You can hear the whole interview at this location.

The interview is part of the lead-up to the announcement of Cort and Fatboy's "Top Twenty Greatest Guitar Solos of All Time." Upon hearing the results of a British radio station's top 20, the KUFO listeners wanted to know why metal bands like METALLICA, IRON MAIDEN and PANTERA were ignored, so Cort and Fatboy decided to do an American version. Listeners submitted potential solos to www.kufo.com, and the results were reduced to 45, which will be pared down to 20 through online voting. The top 20 are scheduled to be announced today (Friday, Sept. 15). Other interviews scheduled for this week's guitar solo list are Dan Donegan of DISTURBED, Tom Morello of RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE and AUDIOSLAVE, Jerry Horton of PAPA ROACH and Aaron Fink of BREAKING BENJAMIN.
