DEICIDE's GLEN BENTON: "I Am Not A Racist"

May 31, 2002

DEICIDE bassist/vocalist Glen Benton has issued the following statement in an attempt to clear up some of the rumors recently floating around regarding his views on racism and his possible departure from the group in order to join VITAL REMAINS on a full-time basis:

"It has been brought to my attention that certain individuals are saying certain things via emails and interviews in regards to race and negative remarks about other bands. I write this to set the record straight and to separate myself from these individuals and their slanderous statements. No one speaks for me and on my behalf, and at no time do I believe in racism or support those views or any of the views these individuals have. I am my own person and only support my views and beliefs. I am of Italian decent and I wasn't raised with ignorance. I have two sons and would not raise them in such a manner as to what is being said by these individuals. I may be a lot of things but a racist I am not. I only hate ignorance. There is much concern and speculation over my latest decision to work with VITAL REMAINS, I am Glen Benton and I only answer to myself in regards to what I want to do. I have no contractual ties to DEICIDE and with that in mind I do as I wish from now on. If and when we do another record I can guarantee you this, it will be what it needs to be, or it won't be with me. 'Till then enjoy DECHRISTIANIZE!!!!!!!"
