DERELICT: 'Machete' Video Released

August 25, 2009

"Machete", the new video from Montreal, Quebec, Canada-based metallers DERELICT, can be viewed below. The clip was shot in Brantford, Ontario by director Justin Peeler of Frontline Pictures.

Commented DERELICT's Eric Burnet: "'Machete' is about the violence going on around the world at any given moment. In the Western world we are lulled into a false sense of safety. Our cozy little cradle society shelters us from what's really happening around the world and allows us to forget that our very own system is part of what supports and encourages the ongoing extermination of human beings. Justin did a great job conveying this message visually. The sudden brutality of the narrative sequence is shocking, realistic, and just really drives the point home."

"Machete" is the lead single from DERELICT's new album, "Unspoken Words", which was recently released through Year of the Sun Records. The CD was recorded in Montreal under the watchful eye of CRYPTOPSY guitarist Chris Donaldson.

DERELICT has become a powerhouse within the Montreal metal scene by sharing the stage with such acts as THE AGONIST, THE PLASMARIFLE, THREAT SIGNAL and ION DISSONANCE. Their brand of metallic brutality and schizophrenic musical changes has drawn comparisons to STRAPPING YOUNG LAD and the legendary DEATH.
