September 7, 2010

A limited-edition DESTRUCTOR seven-ich vinyl single entitled "Metal Spike Deep" is included with the reprint of the the first issue of Snakepit magazine (originally published in 1997 but long out of print),which has just been made available through Shadow Kingdom Records. The single features two live songs, "Pounding Evil" and "Overdose", recorded and engineered by Tony Alberts of Spectrum Sound in 2008 in Cleveland, Ohio. The gatefold sleeve art, which includes lyrics, was designed by Germany's Claudia von Bihl.

Snakepit is an underground heavy metal magazine founded by Germany's Frank Stöver in the late '90s. The publication is known for its in-depth band features and reviews. The first issue featured DESTRUCTOR, EXCITER, THE RODS, HEAVY LOAD, RIGOR MORTIS, NASTY SAVAGE, ARMORED SAINT, TYGERS OF PAN TANG and more. Laurent Ramadier from France, Snakepit's current editor-in-chief, publishes a new issue annually.

"Laurent approached me with the idea of including a free DESTRUCTOR single with the first issue of the reissue series," says Auburn Records president Bill Peters. "I wanted to give him something special for the single so I asked Laurent what his two favorite DESTRUCTOR songs were. He said 'Pounding Evil' and 'Overdose'.

"I was able to find some recent 24-track live versions we had recorded and booked time in the studio for mixing. I had the gatefold sleeve art designed by one of my label's top designers."

Peters adds, "I was more than happy to support Snakepit with this project by donating my time and money to help. It was an honor for me.

"As an underground metal fan myself, Snakepit is one of my favorite magazines to read. You can spend hours with an issue because the stories are so long and detailed. There have been very few publications like it over the years. It's always been a magazine for the fans, from the fans. "

The Snakepit magazine issue #1 reprint (including the DESTRUCTOR single) can be ordered directly from Shadow Kingdom Records for $9.
