DETONATION Guitarist: 'My Sole Purpose In Life Is To Write The Best Record I Can'

June 18, 2008

Guitarist Mike Ferguson of the Dutch death/thrash metal act DETONATION has issued the following update:

"It has been a turbulent couple of weeks [following the passing of Mike's father] but Koen [Romeijn, vocals] and myself have picked up right where we left of and that's to write the best goddamn metal record that we have ever written. It's gonna be the fastest stuff that we have ever written with melodies so beautiful they can make a grown man cry, haha. At the moment there are about three songs musically done and we have a ton of riffs and ideas to fill a record. Now to arrange them into songs. My sole purpose in life is to write the best record I can with a lot of big fast riffs that can compete with the biggest bands in the world."

Video footage of DETONATION performing the song "Into Sulphur I Descend" live at the Heavy X-Mass Fest at 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands on December 23, 2007 can be viewed below.

DETONATION's latest effort, "Emission Phase", was released on April 30, 2007. The CD was recorded with Split Second Sound's Jochem Jacobs (also guitar player for TEXTURES) and Bouke Visser. The cover artwork was created by Eliran Kantor.

"Emission Phase" is DETONATION's third and final album for French underground label Osmose Productions.
