DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND Drummer To Record Solo Album

August 3, 2004

DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND drummer Ryan Van Poederooyen has posted the following message on his web site:

"Since I recently left my band of 8 years, GOD AWAKENS PETRIFIED, I've decided to do a solo album with all the idea's and riffs I never ended up using with GOD AWAKENS PETRIFIED or outside of GOD AWAKENS PETRIFIED. The music will be very versatile, from really heavy music, to acoustic-based songs, to jazz fusion/metal instrumentals.

"I have a whackload of special guests to appear on the album. Here are a list of confirmed guests... Gustaf Hielm (ex-MESHUGGAH) will be playing some bass on the record, Christofer Malmström (DARKANE and NON-HUMAN LEVEL) will be doing some guitar work, Russell Bergquist (ex-ANNIHILATOR) will be doing some bass tracks, Dave Young (DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND, 10 WAYS FROM SUNDAY) will be laying down all the rhythm guitar tracks.

"My most recent addition, which I'm completely blown away with, is Michael Manring (bass god, who has played with Steve Morse, Alex Skolnick and Tim Alexander, to name a few),who agreed to play on my one instrumental song on the album. Jeremy Glen (ex-singer for GOD AWAKENS PETRIFIED) is slated to sing on the album, he has an amazing singing and screaming voice and should make awesome contributions to the record.

"There may be another guest or two on the record.... if anyone else is to appear, I will update you all as soon as the news comes. I'm currently writing my 10-song record, while still making full commitments to DEVIN TOWNSEND BAND, NON-HUMAN LEVEL, EVENLIGHT and other session work, etc... There is no release date scheduled for the album as of yet but the album will be recorded in early 2005. A name is being pondered for the project, I will release the name of the project when it's confirmed and decided upon."
