Originally from Australia, the band conquered its homeland in almost next to no time after forming in Queensland in 1997. Since DEVOLVED's first release, a four-track demo called "Truth", the band gained exposure and captured the imagination of fans in their home country that would take many top level bands years to work at.

With two albums and an EP released in Australia under their belts ("Technologies" on Bioteck/MGM in 2001, "Automation 001" in 2002 and "Calculated" on Modern Music/Sony BMG in 2004),the band received an overwhelmingly positive response, earning them "Best Metal Act" and "Best Metal Album" honors for "Technologies" from Australia's largest radio station Triple J FM, with a listening audience of over 1.5 million people, becoming the first-ever extreme metal act to receive exposure on daytime commercial radio there.

DEVOLVED last year posted two demo songs at its official MySpace page. The tracks, which were laid down in March 2006 in Hollywood, California, were the first recordings to feature new vocalist Kyle Zemanek (ex-DEADSETT) and guitarist Brett Carpio.
